Viral laryngitis is inflammation of the vocal cords caused by a viral infection, often associated with the common cold or flu. It leads to symptoms like hoarseness, sore throat, and difficulty speaking. Treatment focuses on resting the voice, staying hydrated, and using over-the-counter medications to alleviate symptoms.
Ongoing hoarseness may be a sign of vocal strain, inflammation, or another voice disorder that requires medical attention.
